#14 Volleyball Gets First Big 12 Win at #22 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – Senior Geli Cyr had a career-high 18 kills in No. 14 Sun Devil Volleyball’s first Big 12 win and first ranked win of the season, kicking off conference play by winning in straight sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) at No. 22 TCU on Wednesday night.

Notable Stats

  • Arizona State (12-1) earned its first Big 12 Conference win by beating TCU (8-3). This also was the first ranked win of the year and the fourth for head coach JJ Van Niel. In all four of his ranked wins, ASU has won in straight sets. 
  • The win was the fifth-straight sweep for the team. It’s tied for the third-longest streak in team history.
  • Senior outside hitter Geli Cyr had a career-high 18 kills to lead all players, hitting .429. This was her eighth match of the year with double-digit kills. She also had a near double-double with nine digs and added an ace. 
  • Graduate libero Mary Shroll had her 15th-straight match with double-digit digs, tying for the match-high of 12. 
  • At setter, graduate Argentina Ung had a well-rounded performance with 29 assists, five digs, five kills, two aces and two blocks.
