KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The No. 19 Lewis University women’s volleyball team defeated No. 23 Rockhurst after dropping the first set and won three straight Saturday (Sept. 30).

SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: Rockhurst 25, Lewis 18
Rockhurst jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first set. Lewis responded with eight out of the next 10 points to tie it at 8-8 after a block from Stenman and Ray.
Moments later, Schlechte gave the Flyers a 12-11 lead after recording a kill. The Hawks responded with four straight points which gave them a 15-12 advantage.
Hannah Alvey (Mapleton, Ill./Illinois Central College) kept Lewis alive in the set after recording a kill to cut it down to one (18-17). Rockhurst was able to close out the set on a 7-1 run to win the opening game 25-18.
Set 2: Lewis 25, Rockhurst 21
Lewis bounced back in the second set to tie it at 1-1 and started off a 6-3 run. The Hawks responded with back-to-back points to make it 6-5 Lewis.
