2023 AVCA Week 5 poll: Oshkosh picks up 5 first-place votes

Burns promoted from assistant to head coach at Rockford

Juniata maintains a stronghold on the top position, but No. 2 Wisconsin-Oshkosh gained five first-place votes in the AVCA Week 5 poll. Juniata received 80 of 86 first-place votes while UW-Oshkosh went from one to six top votes after defeating then-No. 2 Hope last weekend.

Rounding out the top five are No. 3 Hope, No. 4 Northwestern and No. 5 Emory.

Other Region VIII and Region IX teams in the top 25 this week: No. 8 Wisconsin-Whitewater; No. 12 Washington-St. Louis; No. 15 Transylvania; No. 16 Gustavus Adolphus; No. 17 Mount St. Joseph; No. 18 Wisconsin-Stevens Point; No. 20 North Park; No. 25 Cornell.

Region VIII/IX programs receiving votes this week: Wisconsin-Platteville; Carthage; Coe; Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

My Week 5 top 10 had No. 9 North Park and No. 10 Mount St. Joseph instead of the AVCA’s No. 7 Calvin and No. 10 NYU.
