Juniata is finally unanimous once again atop the final AVCA poll of the season. The Eagles, who extended their winning streak to 97 matches en route to earning their third consecutive Division III championship, had not garnered all 86 first-place votes — for whatever reason — since Week 3.
Following the three-time reigning champs are No. 2 Wisconsin-Whitewater, the 2024 runner-up, and fellow final four participants Hope and Johns Hopkins at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. The top eight, including No. 5 Wisconsin-Oshkosh, No. 6 Emory, No. 7 La Verne and No. 8 Washington and Lee, each advanced to the national quarterfinals.
Rounding out the top 10 were No. 9 MIT and Millikin.
Other Region VIII/IX programs in the final top 25: No. 11 Wisconsin-Platteville; No. 12 Washington-St. Louis; No. 19 Illinois Wesleyan; No. 20 Chicago; No. 23 Wisconsin-Eau Claire; No. 25 Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Region VIII/IX teams also receiving votes in the final poll: Northwestern; Transylvania; Gustavus Adolphus; Dubuque.
Thank you for stopping by the blog this season. Hope to see you back next year.
I will track Region VIII/IX head coach transactions and anything else that pops up, but it is always a bit jarring the first few days of not having an estimated 347 DIII volleyball tabs open. Happy holidays out there.
