Gainesville, Georgia– The Brenau volleyball team closed out the 2021 regular season with a 3-1 over Point (Ga.) University in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) competition on Tuesday.

After winning the first set 25-15, the visiting Skyhawks won the second set 25-20 to even the score 1-1.

However, the Golden Tigers answered with two consecutive set victories (25-22 and 25-23) to win the match and secure the squad’s 19th win of the season. The match was also the team’s eighth win in a row.

After being named as the AAC Attacker of the Week for her performance last week, junior Mary Ellen Enright continued her banner week with 18 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore Chloe Bennett had 11 kills and junior Julieanne Saliba added 20 digs.

The team’s 19th win tied with the 2014-15 team’s total and trails only the 2009-10 team (24 wins) and the 2012-13 team (20 wins) in total victories.

The win also solidified the sixth seed in next week’s 2021 AAC Volleyball Tournament to be held in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Matchups for the tournament will be released by the conference at the end of the regular season.
