PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The 2022 Rutgers volleyball schedule was announced on Tuesday including four nonconference tournament weekends and a 20-game Big Ten schedule.
The Scarlet Knights will once again host a nonconference weekend this year featuring FDU, Princeton and FIU at Jersey Mike’s Arena and welcome 10 Big Ten opponents “To The Banks” for games to be played at either Jersey Mike’s Arena or the College Avenue Gym.
Altogether the 2022 campaign will have the Scarlet Knights meet 10 NCAA Tournament teams including home dates with national champion Wisconsin, national runner-up Nebraska, quarterfinalist Minnesota, along with Penn State, Illinois and Michigan.
The season opens up action at the College of Charleston Tournament on Aug. 26-27 with Rutgers meeting up with Fresno State, Southern Conference Champion The Citadel and host Cougars. Nonconference action continues with the Towson Tournament on Sept. 2-3 featuring Radford, Morgan State as well as the host and CAA Champion Tigers. The Loyola Chicago Tournament on Sept. 9-10 will have the Scarlet Knights take on Kansas State, St. Thomas and host Ramblers.
The first home games of the year and a total of six contests will be played at the Rutgers Tournament at Jersey Mike’s Arena the weekend of Sept. 17-18. On Saturday, Sept. 17 a total of four games will be contested as the Scarlet Knights take on FDU and FIU, while Princeton will square off against the Knights and Panthers in neutral site play. On Sunday, Sept. 18 action opens with FIU versus FDU while the tournament wraps up with Rutgers facing Princeton.
Rutgers will meet all 13 Big Ten teams at least once this fall in the 20-game Big Ten slate, including home and away dates with NCAA runner-up Wisconsin, NCAA third-round participant Illinois, NCAA second-round squad Penn State, NCAA qualifier Michigan along with Michigan State, Northwestern and Iowa. The Scarlet Knights will also play host to NCAA champion Nebraska, NCAA quarterfinalist Minnesota and Maryland while matching up with NCAA quarterfinalist Purdue, NCAA third-round opponent Ohio State and Indiana on the road.
