Boilermakers Voted #13 in AVCA Preseason Poll


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue volleyball squad was picked No. 13 in the AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll, announced by the national office Monday.

Purdue’s ranking marks the third consecutive season the Boilermakers have been ranked No. 13 or better in the preseason prediction.

The Boilermakers are set to take on eight top-25 preseason poll programs this season, five of which rank among the top-7 in the nation. Furthermore, the squad is slated to face four non-conference foes ranked or receiving votes, including at No. 4 Louisville and vs. No. 22 Utah. Overall, Purdue is one of seven Big Ten teams with a top-25 nod, and rank the fifth among its league peers.  

Coming off 22 consecutive weeks ranked in the AVCA top-10 and two back-to-back elite eight appearances, Purdue returns middle blocker Raven Colvin, defensive specialists Maddie Schermerhorn, setter Megan Renner and pins Maddy Chinn, Emma Elllis and Madeline Koch. Meanwhile, the Boilermakers welcome six newcomers, including three transfers and freshmen Eva Hudson, Brielle Warren and Lizzie Carr.

Purdue is set to open the season Friday, August 26 at the Tennessee Classic, where the Boilermakers will take on Bowling Green, Loyola Chicago and Tennessee.
