Volleyball Sweeps Bowling Green in Season Opener

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Purdue volleyball squad opened the 2022 season with a sweep over Bowling Green 25-23, 25-18, 25-23.

As a team, Purdue registered 10 blocks while allowing just one by the Falcons and was more efficient, .263% vs. .152%.

Freshman outside hitter Eva Hudson lit up the court, notching the first and final kill of the match on her way to leading the team with 18 kills, the most by a Boilermaker freshman since 2018 when All-American Grace Cleveland recorded 19. 

Returners also produced career-best performances. Senior outside hitter Madeline Koch recorded a career-best six block assists (previous: 2), Megan Renner set 30 assists (previous: 10) while libero Maddie Schermerhorn recorded 18 digs (previous: 12).

Meanwhile, sophomore middle blocker Raven Colvin secured a team-leading seven block assists and was second in kills with seven (7-3-20).
