Báez Rentas Chosen for NE10 Weekly Honor Roll


COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College women’s volleyball sophomore Alexandra Báez Rentas (San Juan, Puerto Rico/New Dimensions) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 4.

The Purple Knights’ starting setter, Báez Rentas averaged 7.7 assists and 3.3 digs per set during a trio of matches over the weekend at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh’s Cardinal Classic. In a 3-0 win at SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday, she totaled 32 assists, 14 digs, two kills and an ace before turning in 20 helpers, seven digs and two kills during a 3-0 loss against the United States Coast Guard Academy later in the day. On Saturday, Báez Rentas collected 32 assists, 16 digs, five kills and two blocks in a 3-2 loss to Plymouth State University. Both Coast Guard and Plymouth State finished the 2021 season as regionally-ranked NCAA Division III outfits.

A sophomore captain, Báez Rentas is eighth in the NE10 in assists per set (7.12) and 10th in digs average (3.38), recording the most digs per set among non-liberos in the league. She adds 17 kills, six blocks and five aces.

At 1-6, the Purple Knights begin their home slate on Tuesday against Middlebury College at 7 p.m. The Panthers qualified for the 2021 NCAA Division III Tournament.
