Women’s Volleyball Stymied by Saint Francis (PA)

LORETTO, PA. – The Merrimack College women’s volleyball team was downed in its second Northeast Conference (NEC) matchup of the weekend against Saint Francis (PA). Hannah Webber and Cate Wright led the way for the Warriors with seven kills each in the defeat.

Rapid Recap

  • After two straight points Merrimack tied the first set at five. After a couple points that were traded back and forth, Wright had a kill to bring the Warriors within one. The Red Flash scored three of the next four points. Sydney Green had a kill to bring the Warriors back within one. Saint Francis then went on a run, not going down by any less then four points, winning the first set. 
  • In the second set, the Red Flash too an early seven point lead. Wright, Webber, and Green did their best to battle back pulling Merrimack five. After points from Saint Francis, Merrimack had a three point run to pull them back within five. The Warriors ended up losing the set, going down two sets to none. 
  • The Warriors took an early 4-2 lead after a kill by Green. The Red Flash then went on a six point run to take the lead. Webber bad back to back kills to put Merrimack down by four. Julz Carlat started a three point run later in the set to cut the advantage to three. The Warriors battled, but could not find a way to win the third set.
