Sun Devils Back Home To Host LA Schools This Weekend


TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Volleyball is finally coming home to Desert Financial Arena this week after five-straight weekends on the road, welcoming UCLA on Friday at 7 p.m. MST before taking on USC on Sunday at 1 p.m. MST.

A Maroon Monsoon will welcome home the team on Friday, as fans in attendance are encouraged to wear maroon. Sunday’s match is the Green Game, promoting Arizona State’s efforts in sustainability. Sun Devil Outlook 

Arizona State (8-8, 2-2 Pac-12)

  • The Sun Devils ended the road trip with a win, coming away victorious at Oregon State in five sets after dropping the match at then-No. 16 Oregon two nights before.
  • The five-week road trip is finally over for ASU, going 6-7 in those matches. Arizona State was the only Pac-12 team to not play a home match in September. Among Power 5 teams, ASU was one of three, along with Northwestern and Ohio State, to be on the road for the entire month of September.
  • Senior outside hitter Iman Isanovic continues to add to her career kills total. She is currently in 13th place in career kills with 1,175. Her next Sun Devil great to pass is Terri Cox (1994-97), who has 1,185. This season, Isanovic has seven double-doubles and has reached double figures in kills 12 times.
  • Senior setter Shannon Shields had a break-out match in the win against the Beavers, notching a career-high 50 assists. Pacing the offense, she helped the team hit .276. She also had 10 digs for a double-double. She has 174 assists on the year, while the other primary setter Ella Snyder leads the team with 352.
  • The pin hitter duo of Isanovic and junior Marta Levinska have been leading the team in kills all season. Isanovic has 204 and Levinska is right behind with 193. Both have earned double-digit kills in the majority of their appearances this season, Isanovic with 12 and Levinska with 10. Sophomore Geli Cyr is the third Sun Devils in triple figures with 133 on the year.
