TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Missouri volleyball went toe-to-toe with Alabama, where a third-set rally helped propel the Crimson Tide to a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 29-27, 25-10) on Wednesday night.
Mizzou (7-8, 0-5 SEC) held an early first-set lead at 17-13, but Alabama (7-12, 1-6 SEC) rattled off 11 of the last 15 points to close out the first set.
The second set saw the Tigers battle from start to finish, keeping the score within a couple of points for most of the stanza. Mizzou kept the set alive at 27-26, but an attack error and strong kill closed out the second set in the home team’s favor, 29-27.
The Crimson Tide jumped out to an early lead at 8-2, and the Tigers were unable to bounce back. Alabama took the third set, 25-10.
Senior Anna Dixon led the Tigers for the fourth-straight match, producing 10 kills to reach double-digits for the fourth consecutive match. Sophomore Kaylee Cox added another nine terminations, while sophomore lefty chipped in nine.
Alabama’s trio of Alyiah Wells (11) and Kendyl Reaugh (11) and Abby Marjama (10) reached double-digit kills.
