Alabama Volleyball Hosts LSU Wednesday Night on ESPNU


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball returns to Foster Auditorium for another midweek SEC contest, hosting LSU on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. CT live on ESPNU. The match will be the Crimson Tide’s annual Power of Pink match, helping raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

Scouting Alabama

  • Alabama and LSU face off at 8 p.m. CT Wednesday night at Foster Auditorium live on ESPNU

  • Alabama earned its first SEC victory of the season last Wednesday in Tuscaloosa, sweeping Missouri by set scores of 25-21, 29-27 and 25-10
  • The Tide overcame a 17-13 deficit to win the first set and overcame an even larger gap in the second, trailing 23-16 before fighting all the way back to eventually win, 29-27
  • Alabama’s .266 hitting percentage is its highest in SEC play this season and fourth-highest overall
  • The Tide had four players with double-digit kills, led by 14 from Alyiah Wells
  • Emily Janek tallied her fifth double-double of the season with 34 assists and 14 digs

Alyiah Wells Named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

  • Wells led the team with 14 kills in the three-set sweep over Missouri last Wednesday, only committing two errors on 24 swings, good for a .500 hitting percentage
  • The 14 kills are tied for her highest total in SEC play this season and marks the ninth time in the last 10 games she has finished with double-digit kills
