GU falls to Mary Washington on the road


FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Gallaudet University women’s volleyball team ventured out of conference and headed south to play University of Mary Washington here Tuesday night and lost in straight sets, 13-25, 17-25, 11-25, at Ron Rosner Arena.

Gallaudet (15-13) was led by junior opposite Emily Wright (Penn Valley, Calif.) with six kills and one block solo. Junior setter Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) registered 11 assists and six aces while fellow junior Leila Sicoli (Austin, Texas) made a match-high 16 digs. 

Mary Washington (19-5) got its entire team into the match as starter Krista Rodgers led the Eagles with 13 kills and Lauren Foley passed out 20 assists. Brenna Campbell added 14 assists and five aces as UMW recorded 11 service aces in the 3-0 win.

UP NEXT
GU returns home to play host to Penn State Harrisburg and Penn St.-Abington this Saturday, Oct. 22, in a conference tri-meet on Homecoming weekend. GU’s first match begins at 11 a.m. against Harrisburg.
