WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 12 Purdue Boilermakers fell to No. 3 Nebraska, 0-3 (21-25, 20-25, 18). With the result, Purdue moves to 15-4 and 6-3 in the Big Ten, while Nebraska remains undefeated in league play with a 17-1, 9-0 Big Ten record.
In one of the most balanced offensive efforts of the season, eight Boilermakers scored on the attack, led by Emma Ellis’ nine kills. Meanwhile, Madeline Koch finished the night with eight kills, including a momentum-boosting four in the first set.
Libero Maddie Schermerhorn went perfect on her reception rate after receiving 31 balls, and finished the night with a team-leading 14 digs.
Meanwhile the middle blockers posted team-leading numbers with Raven Colvin totaling five block assists and Hannah Clayton’s errorless .500 hitting clip (5-0-10). Clayton’s 5-0-10 showing was the first time this season the fifth-year has gone errorless and the third time she’s hit .500 or better.
Although the Boilermakers out-blocked the Huskers, 8-6, the difference-maker came in the team’s efficiency, with No. 3 Nebraska capitalizing at a .295 efficiency while holding Purdue to .140 on the night.
The Boilermakers continue their week of top-10 opponents Saturday night, when they take on No. 9 Minnesota in Minneapolis. The match is slated for Big Ten Network with a first serve at 9 p.m. ET.
