No. 4 Cardinals Set Attendance Record in Notre Dame Sweep

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Claire Chaussee had 16 kills and Amaya Tillman had 17 points as the No. 4 University of Louisville volleyball team swept Notre Dame 25-10, 25-22, 25-14 before a school record crowd of 9,058 Wednesday night in the KFC Yum! Center.
 
Louisville recorded its 13th sweep of the season as the Cardinals hit .255 with six aces and 12 blocks. Tillman had 12 kills, hit .435 and had eight blocks. Aiko Jones had seven blocks and two aces with libero Elena Scott recording 10 digs.  Setter Raquel Lazaro had a match-high 30 assists and added an ace and two blocks. The Cardinals stand at 19-2 and 10-1 in ACC play.
 
Notre Dame drops to 9-12 with a 4-7 mark in the ACC. The Irish were led by Lucy Trump’s seven kills.
 

The Cardinals are back in action on Friday, back at L&N Credit Union Arena for a 7 p.m. match with Duke as ACC play continues.
 
Set 1
The Cardinals broke out of the gate and tore out to a 19-4 lead powered by .562 hitting.  The Irish struggled to mount an offensive charge, hitting just  .000. The Irish burned both timeouts to attempt to chill the Cards’ momentum but UofL rolled to the 25-10 win. It was the fewest points allowed in a set in a non-fifth set.  Claire Chaussee led all hitters with five kills in the first stanza with Amaya Tillman adding three blocks.
 
Set 2
The Irish tied the score at four early in the second set and took their first lead at 7-6 on a missed Cardinal serve. Louisville retook the lead at 12-11 on a block by Aiko Jones and Amaya Tillman and led 15-11 by the media…
