SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse volleyball returns home to the Women’s Building with a pair of matches lined up for this weekend. The Orange will face Florida State on Friday (Oct. 28th) at 7 p.m. and Miami on Sunday (Oct. 30th) at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on ACCNX.
 
The Orange trail in the all-time series versus the Seminoles, as the visitors hold a 13-0 advantage. The squads first met on Oct. 10th, 1992, which resulted in a 0-3 loss to FSU. Florida State also captured the most recent meeting (Nov. 14th, 2021) 3-1 over Syracuse. In the 13 meetings between the squads, Syracuse has picked eight sets off of Florida State.
 
Over the course of 12 meetings with Miami, Syracuse had gathered just two wins. The first meeting between ‘Cuse and the ‘Canes occurred on Nov. 17th, 2002, when SU lost in three sets. The most recent victory over Miami (Oct. 12th, 2018) ended with a score of 3-1. Most recently the two squads clashed on Oct. 29th, 2021, where the Orange conceded in four frames. 
 
Polina Shemanova is ranked third in the ACC in points per set (4.60, 41st nationally), third in kills per set (4.11, 32nd nationally), and fifth in attacks per set (10.50, 70th nationally). 
 
Viktoriia Lokhmanchuk is ranked fifth in the ACC in aces per set (0.40, 100th nationally) and seventh in attacks per set (9.48, 145th nationally). 
 
In the match against Georgia Tech this past weekend, Lokhmanchuk reached her 30th ace of the season, which ranks seventh on the Syracuse single-season service-aces record list. Lokhmanchuk needs nine more to tie the single-season record (held by Ella Saada, 39 aces, 2007).
 
Syracuse split its weekend on the road by sweeping Clemson (3-0) before turning around and falling to #10 Georgia Tech (0-3). The win over the Tigers marked just the second sweep of the season and the first of conference play for the Orange.
 
Friday night’s matchup against Florida State is Breast Cancer Awareness night. Sunday’s Spooky Sunday matchup against Miami will consist of a costume contest, with a pair of men’s basketball single-game tickets on the line. Admission to all home games is…
