Cats Fall to Oregon in Four

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Wildcats lost to No. 18 Oregon in four sets, 18-25, 25-19, 20-25, 24-26, on Friday night.
 
Arizona out-hit Oregon and Sofia Maldonado Diaz led the Wildcats with a season high 17 kills and a .342 clip. Zyonna Fellows led Arizona with eight blocks to keep the Ducks to a .188 hitting percentage.
 
Oregon won the first set, 25-18. Zyonna Fellows led Arizona with three kills. The Ducks served four aces in the first set to push past Arizona.
 
Arizona won Set 2, 25-29, to even the match. Arizona tallied four blocks to hold Oregon to a -.065 hitting percentage in the set. Maldonado Diaz had five kills and hit .400 to help Arizona tie the match. Fellows had three blocks to hold Oregon’s offense at bay.
 
The Ducks took the third set, 25-20. In a back-and-forth third set, Maldonado Diaz had five kills and Jaelyn Hodge had four kills, but the Ducks hit .378 to overcome Arizona’s defense.
 
Arizona fell to Oregon, 24-26, in the fourth set. Maldonado Diaz recorded six kills, but the Ducks out-hit and out-blocked Arizona in the set to win the match. Arizona fought off four set points for Oregon to tie the set at 24-24, but Oregon was able to score the final two points to win.
 
The Wildcats will face Oregon State on Sunday, Oct. 30 in McKale Center at 12 p.m. MST.
