Fighting Illini Fall to No. 3 Nebraska in Front of Sold Out Huff Hall

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois volleyball celebrated its Stuff Huff and Pink Match promotions in front of a sold out Huff Hall on Saturday night as 4,152 fans packed the stands. The Illini would drop the three-set decision to No. 3 Nebraska as a late rally came up short.

Saturday’s sellout is the first in Huff Hall since the 2019 edition of Stuff Huff when 4,152 fans packed the facility. Since Huff Hall’s capacity was adjusted to 4,152 in the spring of 2016 following renovations, Illinois volleyball has reached that mark six times including Saturday’s sellout against Nebraska.

Illinois is now 9-11 on the season with a 4-6 reading in Big Ten outings. Nebraska improved to 18-1 overall and 10-0 in Big Ten play with its sixth-straight sweep of a conference opponent.

Nebraska scored the first point of the night before Illinois equaled the Huskers on four occasions early in the opening frame. The Illini called the first timeout of the set trailing 12-6, which would extend to 16-10. From there, the Orange and Blue produced a 3-0 run to spark a Husker timeout. Out of the break, Nebraska recorded a 7-0 run to push ahead to a 23-13 advantage before taking the 25-14 decision.
