Hosts Bosnia and Herzegovina are participating for the first time in the Sitting Volleyball Women’s World Championship.
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 6 November 2022 – The 2022 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships started its course on November 4 and will run until November 11 in Bosnian capital Sarajevo.
Here are some statistical figures of the Sitting Volleyball World Championships.
312 – Total number of athletes in the 2022 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
183 – Total number of athletes in the men’s tournament.
128 – Total number of athletes in the women’s tournament.
105 – Total number of matches in the Sitting Volleyball World Championships, including 56 men’s matches and 49 women’s matches.
56 – Total number of International Technical Officials (ITOs) from 33 countries representing all ParaVolley zones. This is the only edition of the World Championships where all areas of the competition have women representation.
29 – Total number of teams in Sarajevo 2022, including 16 men’s teams and 13 women’s teams.
13 – Editions of the Sitting Volleyball World Championship.
8 – Editions of the Sitting Volleyball Women’s World Championship.
7 – Gold medals won by the Iranian men’s team in 1985, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2010 and 2018.
4 – Gold medals won by the Netherlands women’s team in 1994, 2000, 2002 and 2006.
3 – Gold medals won by the Bosnia and Herzegovina men’s team in 2002, 2006, 2014.
