Temple Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award for 2021-22

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple volleyball team was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Monday afternoon, earning the US Marine Corps/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 school year.

Temple’s 3.47 yearly GPA earned them a spot on the team, well above the threshold. Overall, 1,213 teams between women’s and men’s high school and college volleyball earned the distinction this year.

With this year’s honor, Temple now has a streak of ten straight AVCA Team Academic Awards.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average.

Just last week, 11 players earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Academic Honor Roll. To be named to that team, student-athletes must participate in an AAC sponsored sport, attain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 for the preceding academic year and complete a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a minimum of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits.
