Lewis Men’s Volleyball Suffers Setback Against No. 11 Ohio State Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Lewis University men’s volleyball lost to host No. 11 Ohio State, 3-0, in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play Saturday (Feb. 11).

SET BREAKDOWN

FIRST SET: Ohio State 25, Lewis 23

  • Lewis led 9-6 early after a kill from John Davis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central)
  • Moments later, the Flyers went up 16-13 midway through the first set after a kill from Prayer.
  • Ohio State would grab the lead after going on a rally and went ahead 18-16. 
  • Lewis fought back and tied it at 19-all after a kill from Roquet.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth before the Buckeyes scored the last two points to win 25-23. 

SECOND SET: Ohio State 25, Lewis 22

  • Lewis went up 9-4 early in the second set after a block from Piotr Wymoczyl (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove HS) and Prayer. 
  • Ohio State responded with a 11-4 rally of their own to take the lead in the set at 15-13.
  • The Flyers tried to respond with a block from Roquet, Kauling and Wymoczyl but it was not enough. 
  • OSU scored the last two out of three points to win the second set 25-22 and went up 2-0.
