PULLMAN, Wash. — Current Washington State women’s volleyball student-athletes Magda Jehlárová (Czech Republic) and Iman Isanovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) will each return to Europe next week to represent their home nations in the 2023 Women’s European Volleyball Championships (Aug. 15 – Sept. 3). The 2023 European Championships will be hosted across four different countries — Belgium, Italy, Estonia, and Germany — with competition getting underway Tuesday with the first matches of pool play.
The Cougars’ fifth-year All-American middle Jehlárová will fist make the journey to Germany where she and her Czech Republic teammates get set to compete in Pool C which also features Greece, Germany, Turkey, Sweeden, and Azerbaijan. The opening match for the Czech Republic in the host site of Dusseldorf will take place on Friday, Aug. 18, against Azerbaijan.
Isanovic, a graduate transfer from Arizona State in her first season with the Cougs, will join her Bosnian teammates to compete in Pool A which consists of Italy, Romania, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina’s opening match in pool play is slated for next Wednesday, Aug. 16, against Switzerland from the host nation of Italy.
