BOULDER– The 70th Annual Colorado Fall Sports Media Day was held in the Touchdown Club to preview the upcoming seasons for volleyball, soccer, and football. Head coaches Jesse Mahoney, Danny Sanchez, and Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders spoke to the media along with player from all three teams.
The morning began with the Head Volleyball Coach Jesse Mahoney and players Taylor Simpson and Maya Tabron addressing the media for the first time since their international trip to Europe in June. The team is coming off of an appearance in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2018, and the 21st time overall. Mahoney looks to continue to build off of last season’s success starting with defending Mountain West Champion UNLV on August 25 at the CU Events Center.

Getting to the round of 16 and looking to move beyond that. Goals and expectations, we expect to win every match we play, and we play in a conference that that’s going to be hard to do, but we’re going to have to take the opportunity to get better every night we go out and I expect us to be a really good team this season and a fantastic team by the end of the season.”
Fall sports media day continued with Head Coach Danny Sanchez and players Jade Babcock-Chi and Amaya Gonzalez for soccer as they prepare for the upcoming season. Sanchez and the Buffs will open the season on August 17 against Northern Colorado in the first home night game in the program’s history under the new lights at Prentup Field.
“Like every coach in the country says we’re excited, but we are. We will play in less than a week. We always kick off the fall season at CU and as [Athletic Director] Rick George says, we want to get off to a fast start, and that’s our goal next Thursday. Like [Soccer SID] Seth [Pringle] alluded to, we have a new pitch. We already had beautiful grass…
