Women’s Volleyball Drops Road Match to Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. — The Merrimack College Women’s volleyball team fell in 3 sets to Boston College.

How It Happened

It was a Sunday afternoon out of conference volleyball matchup featured on the ACC Network against Boston College. The Eagles jumped on the board first but Merrimack quickly responded with a point on a kill from Hannah Webber, the first of many for her on the day. Boston College would then take advantage, scoring multiple points to match each of Merrimack’s and putting together a 4 point run midway through the first set. The Warriors would string together a run of their own to pull back into striking distance at 16-11. BC would pull away late with a relentless attack and capitalizing on Warrior mistakes and would end up with a 25-15 set one win.

The second set started with a flurry of Boston College points as they took an early 5-1 lead. The teams then traded points as Merrimack fought to get back into it midway through the set. The second set got as close as 18-17 after a kill from Marissa Kobelski and an attacking error from BC. However, the Eagles had a furious 7 straight points to end the set and win 25-17.

The third set was the most closely contested as both teams were at the top of their game. Each Boston College point was immediately followed by a Merrimack answer. This trend continued until late into the third set where BC scored 5 of the final 7 points to pull away and…
