Hangzhou, China, September 18, 2023 – As the 19th Asian Games Men’s Volleyball Competition is right around the corner, the joint meeting was conducted on Sunday to ensure a smooth flow of match play and keeping the pace of the topflight competition.
The bilateral meeting between Control Committee, chaired by Technical Delegate Dr Eom Han-Joo, himself Chairman of the AVC Sports Event Council, and local organizing committee led by Mr Cai Yi, AVC Senior Executive Vice President and Deputy Director of the volleyball competition and leader of the China Volleyball Association, took place at the Meeting Room inside the Hangzhou Asian Games Technical Officials Village, with CC Members and working groups from the local side in attendance.
Mr Cai Yi welcomed all participants, expressing his delight to see them all and setting his sight set on the highly-anticipated volleyball competition in the quadrennial sports extravaganza to be a remarkable success due to the great support of all Control Committee Members and local working groups in joining hands for making things successfully happen.
Ahead of the meeting, AVC Coordinator Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, himself AVC Executive Director, saying on behalf of AVC President Mrs Rita Subowo, expressed gratitude to Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) for hosting the 19th edition of the continental multi-sport event held every fourth year among athletes from all over Asia. He also thanked the organisers for adjusting the competition program and format due to a huge participation of 19 teams in a one-week contest, which also collides with the Olympic Qualification Tournaments.
“AVC will try to cooperate with hosts and OCA for the success of the 19th Asian Games. We hope that all relevant problems will be completely cleared during the preliminary inquiry (later in the evening), especially on the eligibility of team players. However, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and HAGOC will be the top priority for any decision to be made in terms of organizing the competition and making the event a success,” Mr Shanrit was quoted as saying during the meeting.
In this occasion, Dr Eom individually introduced CC Members to the meeting and Mr Cai Yi did likewise on working groups of the local side.
After that, the Hangzhou Asian Games Volleyball Competition Activity Schedule had been raised for discussion, while assignments and roles of each CC Member and working groups were also taken into account.
