Bruins Fall in Straight Sets to No. 6 Oregon

LOS ANGELES – Iman Ndiaye recorded seven kills to the lead the UCLA women’s volleyball team in its 3-0 loss to No. 6 Oregon at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom on Sunday.
 
Set scores were 14-25, 12-25 and 18-25.
 
The Bruins (8-4, 0-2 Pac-12) were limited to 20 kills at a -.021 hitting percentage. The Ducks (12-1, 2-0 Pac-12) totaled 13.0 blocks over the three sets. Oregon’s Karson Bacon tallied a match-high eight blocks while Morgan Lewis added seven.
 
Peyton Dueck reached double-digit digs for the 11th time this season with 16 tonight.
 
Oregon burst out to a 14-4 lead in set one the Bruins were unable to claw back from. UCLA totaled four kills in the frame.
 
The Bruins acquired their first lead of the match in set two. A joust kill by Audrey Pak and kills by Carly Hendrickson and Anna Dodson forced Oregon to call a timeout at 7-3. The Ducks proceeded to go on a 4-0 run to tie it up and took the lead for good on back-to-back blocks by Kara McGhee.
 
The Oregon block was the story again in set three. Three consecutive stuffs by Karson Bacon and company put the Bruins in an 8-3 hole they were unable to come back from.
 
UCLA is back home at Pauley Pavilion next Friday, Sept. 29 when it takes on Colorado at 7 p.m. (PT).
