BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Merrimack College Women’s Volleyball team lost a road match to LIU in 4 sets.

Records: LIU (5-15, 4-2), Merrimack (4-14, 3-3)
How It Happened
This entire match was a war between these two NEC foes. The first set saw the teams battle back and forth with no end in sight. No team seemed to take an edge in this one up until the very end. After a two point swing in Merrimack’s favor to tie it up at 23, the Sharks scored back to back points to win set 1.
The second set was more of the same as both teams were fighting to claim this one. It was tied up late at 18 until the Warriors went on a 5-0 run going up 23-18 and taking full advantage of the set and claiming a 25-20 win to knot it up at one.
The third set was all LIU early as they jumped out to an 11-5 lead but credit to the Warriors for getting back into it. They were down as big as 19-12 but a 6-1 run saw that Shark lead evaporate and make this a game yet again. LIU was able to string together some points to make it a comfortable lead but a quick 3-0 run by MC put the Warriors down just a point at 24-23. LIU was able to close it out right after, scoring the final point and going up 2-1 in the match.
The fourth and what would end up being the final set was once again extremely close up until midway through the set. LIU held a 16-14 lead before rattling off 6 consecutive points to take a commanding 22-14 lead.
