Sand Devils Win Three Divisions at Arizona Fall Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. – Sun Devil Beach Volleyball kicked off the fall season with a bang, winning three brackets at the Arizona Fall Classic at Bear Down Beach over the weekend.

Arizona State made a statement on what the team under first-year ASU head coach Kristen Rohr will look like. Not only did the team win three of the divisions, but one pair placed second in another. Two divisions had all Sun Devil finals and did not play out for a winner. Every duo was a new pair that had not previously played together in an official match.

In the 1s/2s division, two Sand Devil duos made the finals. Junior Samaya Morin and sophomore Daniella Kensinger paired up this weekend, as well as graduate Lexi Sweeney and freshman Ava Williamson. Senior Taryn Ames and freshman Ava Haughy were the winners of the 3s/4s/5s division, winning it out right in the finals.

The other division to see Arizona State pairs in the championship was the 9s/10s/11s, where redshirt freshman Hayden Huber and freshman Elsa Snipes made it along with freshman Annalyse Askew and junior Lillie Seymour. In the 6s/7s/8s division, ASU took second place with juniors Rylie Kael and Ava Kirunchyk making it to the championship.

The next fall tournament will be October 28-29 at the Surf City Collegiate Pairs Challenge in Huntington Beach, California.
