UCLA Falls to No. 15 Arizona State, 3-0

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA women’s volleyball team lost in straight sets to No. 15 Arizona State at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Friday night.
 
Set scores were 29-31, 11-25 and 13-25.
 
The Bruins (13-10, 5-8) totaled 32 kills at a .124 hitting percentage compared to the Sun Devils’ (22-3, 10-3) 50 kills at .364. Iman Ndiaye led UCLA with 10 kills in a double-double effort with 14 digs. Middle blocker Anna Dodson totaled eight kills at a .300 clip with four blocks.
 
Arizona State outside hitter Marta Levinska was the match’s leading attacker with 14 kills (.312%), two blocks and one service ace. Sun Devil middle blocker Claire Jeter was an errorless 10-for-15 on her swings.
 
UCLA performed its best in a marathon set one that saw 18 tie scores and 10 lead changes. Following set one, Arizona State led for the entirety of set two and jumped out in front of the Bruins at the 2-1 mark in set three, never looking back to close the match.
 
With the Sun Devils leading 9-6 in set one, the Bruins rattled off a 6-0 run featuring two kills and two blocks by Dodson and another two kills by outside hitter Cheridyn Leverette. Arizona State retook the lead late on a 3-0 burst at 21-20, forcing UCLA head coach Alfee Reft to burn a timeout. Dodson came out of the break and immediately called for a set from Pak, quickly depositing a kill to sideout.
