Tucson, AZ— The Utah volleyball team battled the Arizona Wildcats in a hard-fought four-set match to begin their weekend slate in the Grand Canyon state, falling (16-25, 22-25, 25-22, 18-25). Allie Olsen put down a season-high 13 kills on the night with 13 kills on 16 attacks and just one error for a team-high .750 attacking clip.
Kamryn Gibadlo added 13 kills of her own for the Utah attack, coming off 33 attempts and finishing with a .242 hitting percentage.
The Utah offense found their rhythm in the later stages of the match, putting down 14 kills in each of the final two sets of the match. In the second set the Utes would trade points back-and-forth with the Wildcats, as the scoreboard would show six lead changes throughout the set.
The Utes kept the offense distributed evenly throughout the first set with Olsen and Gibaldo putting down two kills apiece. Emrie Satuala added a pair of kills through the early going to get the Utah offense rolling.
The Utes kept the distribution even throughout the match with six different athletes putting their name down for a kill by the fourth set. After Olsen and Gibaldo posted three kills each, Amelia Van Der Werff added three kills of her own to round out the third set.
The final set saw five kills come at the hands of Olsen on seven swings. Lauren Jardine closed out the fourth set putting down three of her seven kills.
