LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Duke fell to fifth-ranked Louisville, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-22), Friday evening at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena in Louisville, Ky.
With the loss, the Blue Devils drop to 17-9 overall and 8-7 in conference play while the Cardinals improve to 22-3 and 13-2 in the ACC.
Duke was led by Kerry Keefe and Gracie Johnson with 12 and 10 kills, respectively, as Keefe hit .360 percent for the match. Setter Emma Worthington dished 18 assists, while Keefe led the defensive unit with 13 digs. Johnson led the blocking with four while Jess Robinson added three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Louisville jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by way of a .219 hitting percentage. The Cardinals limited their opponent to a .154 clip with six block assists, putting Duke on its heels early.
- The Cardinal offense, which ranks 14th nationally this fall, continued to stay hot offensively with a .306 second-set percentage as Cara Cresse tallied five kills on six swings to hit .833.
- The Blue Devils fought hard in the third and final set with nearly its best offensive output of the game, but couldn’t quite find the answer. Louisville struggled on offense with a .088 clip, but tallied 16 digs and seven blocks to help claim the win.
- Keefe knocked down six kills on 10 swings with no errors, but Duke’s late rally fell short in Louisville.
