Illinois volleyball hosts Ohio State for a midweek match at Huff Hall on Wednesday night. First serve is slated for 8 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.

The 2023 campaign marks the 50th season of Illinois volleyball, with the Illini holding an overall record of 1,064-622-7 (.628). Chris Tamas enters his seventh season at the helm for the Orange and Blue, boasting a 129-79 (.620) mark.

Tickets for the Ohio State contest originally marked for Friday, Nov. 17, will be honored at Wednesday night’s match.

LAST TIME OUT

The Fighting Illini fell at #1 Nebraska in a four-set road test. Raina Terry led the Orange and Blue with 20 kills in the loss, the 24th time this year she has paced the Illini squad. The Ohio native hit .625 in the third set alone, tallying 10 kills on 16 attempts without a single error.

Brooke Mosher tallied her 12th double-double of the year when she posted 33 assists and 13 digs. Caroline Barnes added a team-best 14 digs, while Cari Bohm amassed six blocks. Jessica NungeVanessa Pan, Barnes and Mosher each recorded an ace in the match, with Nunge pacing the squad with a pair.

ILLINOIS VS. THE FIELD

The series between the Buckeyes and Fighting Illini favors Ohio State, 46-45. Illinois has dropped the last five meetings, falling in four sets in Columbus this year. During his time at the helm for the Illini, head coach Chris Tamas owns a 5-5 mark against Ohio State.

REIGN OF TERROR

Over halfway through her senior year, Raina Terry has tallied 20 or more kills in nine matches, including a new career-best 28 kills at Ohio State on Oct. 13. Terry went back-to-back following the performance at OSU with 24 kills against Rutgers, marking the first time in her career she tallied 20 or more kills in back-to-back matches.

A staple in the Illini lineup, Terry has paced the squad in kills in all but two matches and has registered 464 kills in this season alone with 4.59 kills per set. One of the top left-side blockers in the nation, the Marengo, Ohio, native owns 11 solo stuffs and 58 block assists for 69 total roofs in 2023.
