Duke Closes Regular Season at North Carolina


DURHAM – The Duke volleyball team closes out its regular season Friday at North Carolina. Opening serve is set for 2 p.m. on ACCNX. 

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES

Duke and North Carolina meet for the 125th time in program history as the Tar Heels lead the all-time series, 68-56. Duke last won at Carmichael Arena on Oct. 11, 2020 by a 3-1 margin. 

The two teams previously met Oct. 25 as Duke secured a 3-1 victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium. 

SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS

North Carolina enters Friday’s contest 12-14 overall and 6-11 in the ACC. Most recently, the Tar Heels took No. 25 Florida State to five sets. Offensively, the Tar Heels are led by Mabrey Shaffmaster with 338 kills and a .219 hitting percentage, while Emani’ Foster owns 253. Setters Anita Babic and Zoe Behrendt have dished 498 and 366 assists, respectively, while Maddy May has collected 364 total digs. Sadie Swift leads the blocking with 102 total blocks. 

T-MINUS ONE

Head coach Jolene Nagel looks to reach 500-career wins at Duke before the season is over. She is just one win shy of the milestone.
