Franklin Collects Third Player of the Week Award


MADISON, Wis. – Senior Sarah Franklin of the Wisconsin volleyball team capped off the regular season with her third Big Ten Player of the Week honor this season, announced this afternoon by the league office.

The six-foot-four outside hitter helped the team to a 2-0 weekend with wins over No. 1 Nebraska and Iowa. In those two matches, Franklin averaged 5.00 kills per set, totaling 30 kills in the two matches, including 16 (16-2-33; .424 hitting percentage) against the Cornhuskers. She also tallied her seventh double-double of the season, adding 12 digs versus Nebraska. On the weekend, Franklin hit .329 (30-7-70), 15 digs, added three blocks, and totaled 31.5 points for the Badgers.

Wisconsin has earned the No. 3 overall seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament and will hist the first two rounds beginning Thursday. Wisconsin will take on Jackson State (17-12) at 7:30 p.m. in the UW Field House.
