In a thrilling conclusion to the first half of the Serie A1 Tigotà season, Il Bisonte Firenze secured their spot in the prestigious Frecciarossa Italian Cup. Firenze’s determination paid off, as they triumphed 3-2 over Honda Olivero S.Bernardo Cuneo, marking a remarkable turnaround after initially trailing 0-2. Match MVP was Mayu Ishikawa who scored 19 points.
Despite the fierce competition, the top standings in Serie A1 remained largely unchanged. Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano, led by MVP De Gennaro and stellar performances from Haak, Lubian, and Fahr, swiftly overcame UYBA Volley Busto Arsizio. Allianz Vero Volley Milano, buoyed by Paola Egonu’s prowess and a solid defense, outplayed Megabox Ond. Savio Vallefoglia, marking a disappointing exit for the green and white team from Italian Cup contention.
Savino Del Bene Scandicci also made a dominant win over Volley Bergamo 1991. Meanwhile, Igor Gorgonzola Novara had to dig deep to overcome a spirited challenge from Roma Volley Club, with Akimova earning MVP honors.
The season’s first half wrapped up with Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 securing a win against TrasportiPesanti Casalmaggiore, thanks to outstanding performances from Malinov, Grobelna, and Skinner. Despite the fierce battle, Casalmaggiore fell short, with Smarzek’s 18 points not enough to change their standings.
