PITTSBURGH – Chiamaka Nwokolo and Rachel Fairbanks have been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans on Tuesday afternoon. This marks the first time the two have earned the award.
Nwokolo graduated with a 3.66 GPA after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies this past spring. She is currently pursuing a certificate in HR Law. The two-time captain left her mark in her graduate season, being named to the AVCA East Coast Region Team and All-ACC Second Team, in addition to earning Academic All-District honors. Nwokolo holds the program record for highest career hitting percentage at .392 and single season hitting percentage (.432) in 2023.
Fairbanks is seeking a major in finance and currently holds a 3.72 GPA. She had a standout junior season for the Panthers after being named an AVCA First Team All-American, AVCA East Coast Region Player of the Year, East Coast Region Team member, ACC Setter of the Year, All-ACC First Team and NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team. She recorded a career-high 933 assists while notching 190 digs, 59 kills, 52 blocks and 22 aces.
