COLLEGE PARK, MD – The University of Maryland Athletics’ Strategic Communications and Content Development unit was honored with nine College Sports Communicators (CSC) Fred Stabley Jr., Writing Awards.
The feature story Return of the Script, featured in One Maryland Magazine, written by former Maryland Associate Athletic Director Doug Dull was recognized as the national runner-up in the Historical Feature category of the University Division. That story was also honored as the District 2 winner in the same category. The feature chronicled the deviation of the Script Terps logo and uniform, which debuted in 1982 and was reinstated as the Terps primary uniform in 2023 by head coach Michael Locksley.
The feature Return of the Script was one of five District 2 winners for Maryland.
Three stories written by Assistant Director of Strategic Communications/Staff Writer Alyssa Muir were recognized as the best in their category.
Former Maryland Strategic Communications Assistant/Writer Mason Arneson took home top honors in the district in one category.
Three Maryland stories were honored as runner-ups in District 2.
Nearly 400 entries were submitted in seven categories in the 2023-24 contest. Each category was first judged on the district level, with the winners then advancing to national consideration. All national category winners were considered for National Story of the Year.
