DURHAM, N.C. – Entering the 54th season in program history and head coach Jolene Nagel‘s 26th at the helm of the Blue Devils, the Duke volleyball team makes the short trip to NC Central for an exhibition match Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Battle for Bull City
For the second consecutive year, the Duke volleyball team is partnering with NC Central volleyball for the “Battle for Bull City”, a fundraiser to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Durham and Orange Counties.
As part of the “Battle for Bull City”, both programs are currently competing in a fundraising initiative to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Durham and Orange Counties. Whichever program has the most contributions at the end of Aug. 31 wins bragging rights.
Fans are encouraged to make a gift of any size to help support this important initiative.
Duke competed on NC Central’s campus last season and marked the first time a Duke team competed on its campus since the 1970s.
Last Time Out
The Blue Devils concluded the 2023 season 19-10 overall and 10-8 in conference matches. Nagel returns 10 letterwinners from a season ago, including second team All-ACC honoree Kerry Keefe, in addition to four freshmen and three graduate students.
During her Duke tenure, Nagel has led the Blue Devils to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances and 14 seasons with 20 or more victories. She earned her 700th career victory November 5, 2023 as the Blue Devils downed Virginia Tech in straight sets. With the win, Nagel became the ninth active Division I head coach to reach 700 wins during her 36 seasons.
