NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College Women’s Volleyball team captured their first win in the home opener against Central Connecticut.

How It Happened
Central Connecticut caught an early lead in the first set putting up 14 points to Merrimack’s 9. Freshman Aubrey Baker and Julz Carlat set the tone in the second half of the set hammering kills to tie the score at 20-20. Merrimack would continue this momentum to win the set 25-22. The Warriors and Blue Devils were neck and neck for most of the second set until Merrimack began to pull away late. Responsible for the late push was the tandem duo of Hannah Webber and Julz Carlat.
Central Connecticut came out strong in the third set taking a 10-6 lead over the Warriors. The Warriors battled to the end but ultimately could not close the gap. The Blue Devils would win the third set 25-17. Merrimack would command an early lead in the fourth set however, Central Connecticut began to pick up momentum delivering 5 straight points. This proved too much for the Warriors as the Blue Devils would claim the fourth set victory, 25-22.
The fifth and final set began with both teams trading points. The Warriors took control of the set with consecutive service aces delivered by junior Amanda Gately.
