Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 22, 2024 – Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh VC staged a sweep against Vietnam’s Duc Giang Chemical 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-20) in Pool A of the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship.
Kuanysh VC captain Yulia Dymar led all scorers on the board with 16 points in Sunday morning’s victory at the Chartchai Hall.
“I am very happy for this win at the start of the championship. We worked hard to prepare for this and we know we can do even more in the coming games,” said Dymar.
The Kazakh club relied on a formidable combination from the start. Dymar was pretty consistent from the left flank, while Sana Anarkulova played steadily upon each rotation. Their relatively taller roster also provided good formation and timing on blocks.
In the second set, Duc Giang Chemical showed that they could play along the rhythm of the 2022 champions. They were able to activate Tran Tu Linh from the wing and Ly Thi Luyen at the middle.
When crunch time came, Kuanysh VC played more steadily in transition, and made good decisions in attack. Their opponents tried to inch closer, executing a crucial block and shortly after, a service winner, but the Kazakh club survived to take the second set.
Kuanysh VC carried on with momentum in the third set, even with the switch of setters and outside hitters. They continued to play with the tempo they have established to take a straight-set victory on opening day.
Kuanysh VC will next play against hosts Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC on Monday, September 23, at 16:00, while Duc Giang Chemical will face Kwai Tsing in a later match at 19:00. All times local.
