NEC RED ROCKETS KAWASAKI BOOST 3-0 WIN AGAINST LPBANK NINH BINH

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 22, 2024 – Japan’s NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki posted a straight-set victory 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-18) against Vietnam’s LPBank Ninh Binh in Pool B of the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship on Sunday at the Chartchai Hall.

Yoshino Sato posted 21 points to help the team build a good start for the championship. She scored with 18 attacks and 3 service winners.

“This is our first game for the competition and I wanted to bring some sort of energy and empowerment for the team, and I think I was able to do that today,” Sato said.

The Vietnam club captain Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen led all scorers in the field, charting a total of 24 markers in the defeat.

The Japan club, which held the title in 2016, surged to set up their system early on, showing their quality of efficient passing to convert to quick plays. They ran their offense on Yukiko Wada from the wing, and  Moeka Kinoe at the middle.

They eased into their system even more, running a mix of straightforward attacks with combination plays. They had this luxury as their backcourt kept working so hard in both serve-receive and digs.

LPBank Ning Binh tried to keep up with the pace, succeeding in sequences where they had shown equally good decisions in tight transition plays. They relied upon their captain Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, who looked unstoppable. It was easy to understand why the plays were mostly set up for her, with good percentage on attack.

Meanwhile, NEC Red Rockets setter Shiori Tsukada orchestrated the Japan club’s offense so well, varying her selection of hitters to complete the attack. She provided the steady hands to run the offense toward victory in straight sets.

NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki will play against Iran’s Saipa Club in the opening match at 10:00 on Monday, September 23. LPBank Ninh Binh will then face the Philippines’ Monolith Sky Risers in the following match at 13:00. All times local.
