KUANYSH, DUC GIANG CHEMICAL,  NEC RED ROCKETS, LPBANK NINH BINH ENJOY VICTORIES ON DAY 2 OF 2024 ASIAN WOMEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 23, 2024 – Participating club teams representing Kazakhstan, Vietnam and Japan triumphed during the second day of competition of the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship on Monday at the Chartchai Hall. 

Pool A

Kuanysh VC (KAZ) secured their second win by outlasting a five-set thriller, 3-2 (25-8, 26-24,12-25, 22-25, 15-13) against Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC (THA). Sana Anarkulova helped the team with her leadership, consistent play, and 28 big points from 21 attacks, 4 blocks and 3 service winners.  Onuma Sittirak bested all scorers, charting 31 points in the defeat. 

After, Duc Giang Chemical Club (VIE) triumphed over Kwai Tsing (HKG) in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-16 in Monday’s final match-up. Outside hitter Tran Thu Linh and middle blocker Tran Thi Bich Thuy posted 18 and 14 points respectively as the leading scorers in their first victory in the competition.

Pool B

NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki (JPN) took their second consecutive win by beating Saipa Club (IRI) 3-1 (25-27, 25-12, 25-18, 25-14). Lorrayna Da Silva led the charge by posting 21 explosive points, with four other players , Yoshino Sato, Haruyo Shimamura, Haruko Sasaki and Moeka Kinoe contributing double-digit markers. 

Later, LPBank Ninh Binh (VIE) breezed through a 3-0 match (25-15, 25-20, 25-22) over Monolith Sky Risers (PHI). Captain Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen scored on 22 attacks and 2 service aces to lead all scorers in the field for the Vietnam club’s first victory in the competition. 

Pool play concludes on Tuesday, before a much-needed rest and recovery break. Play resumes on Thursday for the quarterfinals, with the semifinals set on Friday.

The finals for 5th to 8th places are scheduled on Saturday, with the medal matches on Sunday. 

The champion and vice-champion teams will qualify to compete in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, scheduled in December 2024 in China.
