Cats Swept by No. 22 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – Arizona lost in three sets (15-25, 19-25, 16-25) to No. 22 TCU on Friday night in Fort Worth.  
 
Middle blocker Kiari Robey led Arizona with nine kills and a .615 clip while Carlie Cisneros and Jordan Wilson had eight kills each.
 
TCU took the first set, 25-15. The Horned Frogs jumped to an early lead that Arizona wasn’t able to come back from. Robey led Arizona with five kills and Cisneros followed with four kills, but it wasn’t enough to overcome TCU’s .571 team hitting percentage.
 
The Horned Frogs won the second set, 25-19, to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Arizona’s defense had two blocks but the offense only hit .241. The set began with both teams trading points before TCU pulled away halfway through. The Wildcats were led by Wilson with five kills and Alayna Johnson was involved in both of Arizona’s blocks.
 
The Wildcats fell 16-25 in the third set to lose the match. Arizona had a 3-1 lead to start the set, but TCU went on a 7-0 run to take the lead. Cisneros and Wilson both had three kills for the Cats but TCU served three aces and hit .324 to win the set.
 
The Wildcats return to Tucson for their Big 12 home opener on Wednesday, October 2 against BYU. Arizona will then host Utah on Friday, October 4 to close out the week.
