#14 Volleyball Comes Up Short in 3-1 Loss at #19 Baylor

WACO, Texas – Despite double-doubles from Geli Cyr and Argentina Ung, No. 14 Sun Devil Volleyball fell at No. 19 Baylor in four sets (25-21, 25-22, 17-25, 25-17) on Friday night in the Ferrell Center. 

Notable Stats

  • Arizona State (12-2, 1-1 Big 12) had its second loss of the season, falling to Baylor (10-3, 2-0 Big 12). Both of ASU’s losses this season have been to ranked opponents. 
  • Senior outside hitter Geli Cyr had another strong offensive night for the Sun Devils, earning her first double-double of the year with a game-high 17 kills and 12 digs. This is the 12th double-double of her career. This was her ninth match of the year in double figures, fourth in a row. 
  • Graduate setter Argentina Ung collected 38 assists and 10 digs for her third double-double of the year, 22nd of her career. She also had a pair of blocks. 
  • Holding down the defense as usual, graduate libero Mary Shroll had a team-high 13 digs. This was her 15th-straight match in double figures, dating back to last season. 
  • Redshirt-freshman setter/defensive specialist Brynn Covell notched a career-high 12 digs.
  • Seeing more action in the latter part of the match, graduate pin hitter Roberta Rabelo earned a new season high of nine kills.
  • Graduate middle blocker Claire Jeter notched a season high in aces with two to go along with her six kills and three blocks. 
  • Junior opposite Bailey Miller led the team in blocks with four, adding five kills as well.
