FIVB PRESIDENT MEETS WITH THE HIGHEST SPORTS AUTHORITIES IN UZBEKISTAN

The FIVB Delegation also attended the finals of the Uzbekistan Volleyball League

The FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° met with Uzbekistan’s highest sports authorities to discuss the preparations for the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship 2025 and the vision for the development of volleyball in the country.

The FIVB delegation met with Pulat Bobojonov, President of the Uzbekistan Volleyball Federation and Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, Adkham Ikramov, Sports Minister of Uzbekistan, Oybek Kasimov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and Bekmurod Abdullaev, First Deputy Chairman of the Volleyball Federation of Uzbekistan and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. Present at the meeting was also the President of the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Mohamed Latheef.

The discussions focused on the development of volleyball in Uzbekistan as the country is set to stage its first-ever Volleyball World Championship from 21 July to 3 August next year, in the U19 category. The President of the Uzbekistan Volleyball Federation and Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan as well as the CAVA President praised the work of FIVB President at the helm of International Federation and called him “a father of modern volleyball”.

The FIVB President also confirmed the FIVB’s commitment to continued investment into the Uzbekistan Volleyball Federation, namely, coaching support for the U19 national team as part of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment and Development programme. Additionally, the FIVB Volleyball Foundation was also presented to Uzbekistan’s sports leadership, and discussions were had regarding collaboration opportunities during the youth World Championships next year.

The FIVB President talked to the media in Uzbekistan about the development of sport in the country

During the visit, the FIVB President said:

“The FIVB are delighted that Uzbekistan is staging the prestigious FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship for the first time. With the valued support from the government and sports authorities here in Uzbekistan, and the impact of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment and Development programme, the event will no doubt be a great celebration of our sport, and provide a great platform for the continued development of volleyball in the country.”
