NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack College women’s volleyball team secured their second sweep of the season over the Manhattan University Jaspers on Sunday.

How It Happened
The first set began with both teams trading points until the Warriors caught a break and ran with it. Sophia DeBonis would set up three kills and Mckenna Shotwell capped off the run with a service ace to make it 21-15. From there the Warriors would set off a 5-2 run to win the first set 25-17. The second set resulted in a similar pattern with both teams neck and neck, until Manhattan was able to extend an 11-9 lead. The Warriors would fight back to tie the score at 14 and then ignite a six point streak to take a 19-14 lead. Sophia DeBonis drilled two serves late in the set that proved too powerful for the Jaspers to overcome, resulting in a 25-19 victory for the Warriors. Looking for their second sweep of the season, the Warriors headed into the third set with tenacity. Manhattan would extend an early lead going up 13-6 but the Warriors would respond with an impressive 11 point run led by Mckenna Shotwell to regain a 17-13 advantage. The Jaspers answered with seven points to tie the score at 20 but the Warriors were able to put it away soon after, as they tallied four points to win 25-23.
