Pullman, Wash. (October 14, 2024) – Washington State Volleyball senior opposite Katy Ryan was named WCC Offensive Player of the Week, and middle blocker Lucie Blažková was named the Freshman Player of the Week Monday morning.
Ryan recorded a league-leading 47 kills and 50.5 points as the team went 2-0 over Pacific and Saint Mary’s, and had a .471 hitting percentage. She had a career-best 30 kills in the team’s win over Saint Mary’s, the most in a single match in the WCC this week, and averaged 5.22 kills per set, and 5.61 points per set, while recording six blocks.
Blažková was excellent on both sides of the ball with a league-leading five solo blocks, and finished with a total of 13 blocks, good for 1.44 blocks per set, both of which were second-most in the WCC this week. On offense she tallied 25 points on the weekend with 15 kills on a .378 hitting percentage, tied for ninth best in the league over the weekend, and averaged 1.67 kills, 1.44 blocks, and 2.78 points per set.
The Cougars play in Pullman next Thursday, October 17, hosting Oregon State at 7 p.m. before hitting the road again to play San Diego at noon on Saturday, October 19. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
