Volleyball Falls At No. 2 Nebraska

LINCOLN, Nebraska – No. 2 Nebraska extended its win streak to 13 straight, sweeping Rutgers volleyball on Saturday night in front of a sold-out Devaney Sports Center Crowd.

The Cornhuskers topped the Scarlet Knights 25-15, 25-16, 25-12.

  • Redshirt junior Alissa Kinkela put away nine kills adding eight digs and a pair of blocks to her stat line.
  • Junior Aly Borellis posted 26 assists along with a pair of blocks and an ace.
  • Sophomore Kenzie Dyrstad returned to her home state to lead the defense with 12 digs.
  • Freshman Natalie Robinson led the block with a trio of stops.

  • SET 1 (15-25) | Rutgers used a 5-1 run to establish an 8-7 lead on the number two team in the nation to open the match. The burst included a kill from Alissa Kinkela, blocks from Natalie Robinson and Aly Borellis with an Anna Hartman swing to give RU the lead. The Cornhuskers countered with a 6-1 outburst to go in front. The Scarlet Knights pulled within one down 13-12 thanks to a pair of Nebraska errors and a stop at the net from Kinkela and Ece Emrullah. Nebraska, however, powered ahead closing the frame outscoring the Knights 12-3. Kinkela contributed four of her team-leading nine kills in the set.
