TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona Wildcats won their final home match of the regular season in McKale in four sets over UCF (24-26, 25-19, 25-20, 25-23) to extend their win streak to six games. The last time Arizona won six straight matches in conference play was in 2001, when the team went on an 11-match win streak.
Jaelyn Hodge led the offense with 16 kills in her final match in McKale. Jordan Wilson added 13 kills and Carlie Cisneros had 10 kills to help Arizona beat UCF. Arizona’s defense tallied 10 blocks to hold UCF’s offense to a .205 hitting percentage.
UCF won the first set 26-24. Both teams hit above .330 but the Knights were able to win the first set with two blocks, three aces, and 16 kills on a .343 clip. Arizona’s offense hit .333 and Hodge led the way with five kills. After eight lead changes in the first set, the Cats had a 24-23 lead, but the Knights won the next three points to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Arizona evened the match with a 25-19 win in the second set. The Wildcats used three aces and went on a 7-0 run to close out the set. Alayna Johnson and Wilson both had four kills to lead the attack, and Journey Tucker ended the set with a solo block. Carlie Cisneros served three aces to help the Cats win the set.
